The stamps

Informative note
To give consumers more and clearer information about the qualities of Parmigiano-Reggiano sold in packs, three stamps will be in use from 2007. These identify the minimum maturity of the cheese in the pack, with three strengths. Use of these stamps by Parmigiano-Reggiano packing companies is optional. The three stamps are:
- Matured for more than 18 months lobster-coloured stamp
- Matured for more than 22 months silver stamp
- Matured for more than 30 months gold stamp
A specific agreement with the Consortium, which authorises use of the stamps, is required before the stamps may be printed on the label, or added to the label.
