Parmigiano-Reggiano for German “Minichefs”

The Consortium has sponsored the two-year project to teach the basics of culinary art.

Reggio Emilia, 23rd June 2011- The cooking courses for “Minichefs”, for participants between 10 and 13 years of age, and for "Juniorchefs", for teenagers above 13 ended on Sunday, 19th June in Bad Homburg, Germany.  The courses lasted two years and had Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese as their official sponsor. The organisation “Junior-Köche Deutschland” is based in Frankfurt, but the activities spread all over Germany.

The course was designed with the purpose of giving young people a sound food culture, explaining the origin of foodstuffs, production areas and use in cooking.

The topics refer to the curriculum for hotel and cooking schools in Germany.

Besides being the official sponsor, Parmigiano-Reggiano was given to the young chefs, for their preparations in the kitchen and was widely used on the final evening, Sunday 19th June. On that occasion, all students wore chef jackets and aprons with the Parmigiano-Reggiano logo.

The conclusion of courses at the Steigenberger Hotel had forty boys and girls as protagonists, subdivided into “Minichefs” and “Juniorchefs” who prepared the menu for the "Gala Dinner" with nine courses served to a public of about one hundred guests.
At the end of the evening, the young chefs were awarded a prize and the course diploma.
