The Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium officially launched its new Japanese website
The Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium officially launched its new Japanese website as part of a strategic three-year communication project valued at over 3 million euros and co-financed at 80% by the European Union. This initiative, which runs until 2028, is designed to consolidate the presence of the PDO in Japan, its leading Asian market, where imports reached nearly 800 tons in 2025.
The project aims to deepen the connection with Japanese consumers by highlighting the high umami content of Parmigiano Reggiano, which aligns perfectly with the sophisticated local palate and pairs seamlessly with traditional Japanese dishes. Beyond consumer outreach, the strategy focuses on educating industry professionals, such as importers and chefs, on the technical qualities and authenticity of the product. This educational journey builds upon a series of prestigious cultural events held over the past year, including the partnership launch at the Noh Kanze Theater, the ceremonial wheel-cutting at the Osaka Expo, and unique tastings during traditional Shinto matsuri festivals in Tokyo. Through a mix of social media activity, participation in trade fairs like Foodex Japan, and specialized training, the Consortium continues to promote the excellence and versatility of Parmigiano Reggiano throughout the Japanese market.
