Parmigiano Reggiano flies to New York for the Summer Fancy Food Show - Booth 2901 level 3

North America's most important Food&Beverage event will take place from June 23 to 25 at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan. The Consortium will be present with its stand and two events: June 23 addressed to the world of trade and June 25 to the New York press

Reggio Emilia, June 3, 2019 – The Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Consortium is flying to New York City to participate from June 23 to 25 in the Summer Fancy Food Show (SFFS), the event dedicated to North America’s largest Food&Beverage event. 2,600 exhibitors coming from 54 countries will exhibit more than 200,000 agri-food products at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan.

Parmigiano Reggiano will be there: at booth is number 2901, located at Level 3. The Consortium’s activities at the SFFS will follow three directions: one-to-one meetings with business partners at the exhibition booth, an event dedicated to the world of trade and one address to the food and lifestyle press.  The first appointment is the event dedicated to trade, which will be held on Sunday, June 23 at 5 pm on the rooftop of the Hotel Americano in Chelsea, Manhattan: the President Nicola Bertinelli will meet the key American players to talk about the product values and the new Consortium initiatives to promote the product in the States.

The United States is the second largest export market for the King of Cheeses – following France - with 10,439 tons of product shipped overseas in 2018 (+ 15% vs. 2017). Parmigiano Reggiano has focused increasingly more on foreign markets and in 2018 it achieved and exceeded 40% of export share, with a volume growth of + 5.5% vs. the previous year.

The American market is giving us huge satisfaction. Even though Parmigiano Reggiano is still forced to fight against similar sounding products (parmesan) that may deceive consumers and take away market shares, our members have considerably increased sales in the United States ( +15%): this is evidence of the fact that American consumers appreciate the value of our product and can distinguish it from those other products on the market that have nothing to do with our strict production regulations and area of origin”, stated Nicola Bertinelli, President of the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium.

The key event of the New York mission will be addressing top influencers and most authoritative food and lifestyle journalists on the US scene. The appointment is Tuesday, June 25 at the Nishi restaurant of the celebrity chef David Chang - starring actor of the Ugly Delicious documentary showing on Netflix - for a tasting and dinner based on Parmigiano Reggiano. An exclusive event that will see the participation of President Nicola Bertinelli to confirm once again the strategic role of activities and investments in PRs and media relations.

“The United States have all the potentials to become the first export market of the King of Cheeses – added Bertinelli – we have the task of grasping this opportunity. This is why it is important to meet our target consumers, in particular the Ho.Re.Ca. Sector, grocery stores, large retailers and media that may become ambassadors of the authentic Parmigiano Reggiano on US soil”.
