Parmigiano Reggiano: the Consortium flies to Tokyo for “Cheese festa 2018” and to meet the press

Japan is Parmigiano Reggiano’s fourth largest importer outside the EU. The thousand-year-old ritual of the cutting of the cheese wheel in Tokyo’s spotlight

Reggio Emilia, 8 November 2018 – The Consorzio del Parmigiano Reggiano will be present at Cheese Festa 2018, Japan’s largest consumer event dedicated to the world of cheese that will take place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 November in Tokyo. The event attracts every year about 9 thousand aficionados and will be held in the EBiS303 venue of the Ebisu district of Shibuya, one of the city’s most dynamic neighbourhoods.

On both event days, the thousand-year-old ritual of the cutting of the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese wheel will be featured in this extraordinary showcase.  The “Cutting Show of Parmigiano Reggiano” is one of the most popular and eagerly awaited events at the Cheese Festa: the appointment is for Saturday 10 November at 4:00 pm and Sunday 11 November at 4:30 pm in booth 3F of the Event Hall; the event is free of charge and no reservation is required.

Japan is Parmigiano Reggiano’s fourth largest importer in volumes outside the European Union with 793 tons of product in 2017. This is a growing market, careful to Geographical Indication products, that the Consortium is willing to strengthen through investments in communication aimed at underlining the distinctive characteristics of Parmigiano Reggiano.

The Consortium will therefore meet the main Japanese Food and Lifestyle newspapers and magazines next 12 November at Trattoria Creatta in Tokyo. On this occasion, the chef from Parma Maria Amalia Anedda will cook for the journalists a menu combining Parmigiano Reggiano with the Oriental culinary culture. The goal is showing that the King of Cheeses is not only the perfect ingredient for traditional recipes, but also a versatile and far-reaching product.
