Italy to be guest of honour at San Sebastian Gastronomika

San Sebastian Gastronomika is back! The congress devoted to food will be held in Spain from 5 to 8 October 2014 and this year will be dedicating its “place of honour” to Italy

Reggio Emilia, 23 September 2014 – The guest of honour country will be Italy at the sixteenth edition of San Sebastián Gastronomika, one of the most important culinary congresses in the world, being held in Spain from 5 to 8 October.

Representing Italy will be the very best food and beverage products, including Parmigiano Reggiano, as well as some of the country's leading chefs including: Carlo Cracco, Massimiliano Alajmo, Gennaro Esposito, Davide Scabin, Andrea Berton, Niko Romito, Mauro Uliassi, Pino Cuttaia, Moreno Cedroni and Massimo Bottura.

It will be down to Bottura to open the congress by splitting a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano, to be followed by a cooking show dedicated to this King of Cheeses, a product that Bottura adores along with a love of its land of origin and the tradition it embodies.

Parmigiano Reggiano, as one of the main top products made in Italy, will be the topic of a conference entitled “Las grandes maduraciones del Parmigiano Reggiano”, to be held on Wednesday 8 October, which will allow participants to fully appreciate just how important time and maturation are for our product. The session will include a guided tasting of Parmigiano Reggiano at 4 different levels of maturation (24, 36, 48 and 72 months).

The Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium will be present at the institutional stand of the I.C.E. (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade) where product information will be available.

The event expects to welcome more than 12,000 visitors including journalists, sector operators, chefs and sommeliers, who will have the opportunity to come face to face with over 180 exhibitors from around the globe, and get to know our country's top products.

We look forward to seeing you there!
