Junge Wilde 2014

In Hamburg, Germany, over 2,200 “young wild ones” challenged each other in the Junge Wilde, the competition dedicated to under-30 European chefs

Hamburg, 26 March 2014Walter Triebl, a 25-year-old from Austria, is the winner of the tenth edition of Junge Wilde, the competition for Under 30 chefs. The challenge between the three finalists, chosen from 2,200 competitors, took place on Monday, March 17, during the Gastro Premium Night at Karlheinz Hauser Süllberg in Hamburg.

The Junge Wilde, organized by Rolling Pin, one of the leading food and wine magazines in the world, is an opportunity for young chefs coming from all over the world to meet and exchange ideas, and showcase their skills in front of a jury of Michelin-starred chefs, proving that they are creative talents and playing with raw materials and flavours to give life to real “masterpieces” of taste.

For the first time in the history of the competition the Consortium, always in touch with the world of chefs and youth, provided its support to the event by inserting Parmigiano Reggiano among the ingredients to be used in the preparation. Bettina Meetz, the Consortium contact point in Germany, attended the evening and was able to witness first hand the skill of the winner, Triebl, who presented the jury with his personal interpretation of the use of Parmigiano Reggiano in the kitchen with the dish “Clockwork Orange”, a Parmigiano Reggiano raviolo with coco plat beans, pumpkin cream orange, curry and king prawns.

An impressive award for Walter Triebl, the winner: he will star on the cover of Rolling Pin and will have the opportunity to do an apprenticeship in Girona (Spain) with Joan Roca, 3-star Michelin master chef and owner of the restaurant El Celler, first in the list of best restaurants in the world.

Our congratulations to Walter!
