Parmigiano Reggiano Chef 2014

Parmigiano Reggiano Chef 2014 gets underway - the culinary competition launched by the Consortium that will bring the King of cheeses to cuisines around the world

Reggio Emilia, 21th May 2014 – Online starting on Monday May 19, the second edition of Parmigiano Reggiano Chef is the culinary competition that last year involved over 150 participants in Italy and that this year will welcome food bloggers, cooking schools, true enthusiasts and chefs from all over the world.

The theme this year is Cross Cooking: the art of unifying different cultures in the kitchen and of showcasing the versatility of Parmigiano Reggiano, so well suited to enhancing and flavouring dishes from around the world. All  participants are invited to challenge themselves by reinterpreting a recipe from other culinary cultures, or from their own country if they are from outside Italy, and including Parmigiano Reggiano among the ingredients.

A dedicated app, available from the website, makes it possible to register and upload recipes, indicating the country of inspiration. From spring rolls to Mexican tacos, cooks will be available to give full rein to their imaginations or draw inspiration from a trip to revisit a recipe in a way that will take Parmigiano Reggiano into the cuisines of the world.

At the end of the contest, set for Friday 18 July, an international panel of chefs belonging to the Euro-Toques International association will select the 30 recipes that have best interpreted the theme and that will be included in the first Parmigiano Reggiano “Cross Cooking” cookbook. There will also be a special surprise for the most interesting recipe!

Judges will take into account originality, skill in mixing ingredients and the ability to integrate Parmigiano Reggiano harmoniously into international culinary culture.
